Bob's  IFG VT Kit

Rcpphantom@aol.com

Dale, my name is Bob, and I'm also building a Diablo.  I just don't know how to go about wiring this thing.  I'm installing a Firebird 350 tpi, and I have a harness for the engine.  But I've removed all of the emission garbage.  Do you have any idea how to hook up the harnesses?  I'm also considering installing a painless type harness in the car since there are a lot of lights that would have to be spliced in otherwise.  I still need to run my line for the hyd. clutch.  I still have some work to do on the body, such as ducts to run into the engine area for cooling.  And I'm not having pop up headlights. I'm installing 96 Camarro headlights tunneled in the recess. Purists will hate it, but I believe it's going to look pretty good.  It's too cold here in ST. LOUIS  to work on the car right now, so I'm just trying to get all of my ducks in a row.  If you can shed a little light, it sure would be appreciated.  I've tried to get some info from IFG, without much luck.  What info I have recieved was impossible to decipher.  Good luck on your project.  It's fun, but I wish I had someone to come over sometime
to work alongside.  I've had the body now for 3 years, so I'm getting anxious to finish this.  Have a good day.

Dale, thanks for your reply.  This is a start.  I don't have the capability to send a picture of my progress yet, but I have taken pictures of every job performed so far.  Also a journel, which wouldn't be of any use to another except to show how involved building this car is.  I'm not sure I would have started this project had I known the difficulty I would have.  I'm certain the car when it is finished will be an eye catcher, but getting to that point is tough.
I tried to get info from IFG concerning electric window inst. and I recieved a drawing instead of a picture.  It was horrible.  I find all of their drawings in error.  I've worked on aircraft for 39 years using all kinds of prints, but their drawings leave a lot to be desired. Thanks again, and I'll be in touch.

It's been a while since I've written to you, and a lot has been going on.  I have the body off of the chassis, and I have so much to do.  My cockpit is being upholstered, I've been fabricating a pattern for an aluminum engine shroud which will hide the framework, mufflers and exhaust manifolds, aircleaners, and in general dresses up the area.  I need to buy a stereo, and a couple speakers for the console.  Tomorrow I,m picking up some ABS plastic for some trim work around the windows inside and out.  I had a rear window made, but it needs to be ground down some more to fit in the cavity.  I am inserting it in a rubber seal which will then be bonded into the cavity with black windshield mastic.  I've been trimming the body where the door seal gets installed so the doors will fit flush as they should.  I still have some trimming to do on the drivers side.  I have so much to do, and it's just too cold to spend any time in the garage right now.  I do take advantage of good. I don't know about being a visionary, but I know what I like and what I think will look good.  I have a real neat idea about my exhaust.  But I'm having trouble finding what I want.  I'm wanting to set 4 camarro Z28 rectangular exhaust tips in the recessed are across the back.  That will fill the entire area with exhaust tips.  I have it drawn out, and have shown it to quite a few people for their reaction, and they all like it.  Well Dale that's about it for now.  I wish I had a scanner so I could send some pictures.  Some day maybe.  Have a good one.  Bob

Dale I  just read all of the letters from all of the builders, and I believe some good info can be found here.  So I'll give all of the particulars on my project.  Warlock VT  kit, 89 firebird 350tpi with 80 miles on it.  Int'l research motorsports, inc. brakes, coilover/a arms front and rear, anti sway bars, and rear camber adjusters.  I ordered all of these items before I had even gotten started, or I would have never ordered two sway bars.  I don't intend on racing the car, and I don't think you could ever losr this thing in a turn.  84 fiero chassis which I had to install a clutch/ brake assy. Porsche Transaxle which I got thru IFG, as well as the compomotive wheels and Yokohama tires.  My engine wire harness came from Fuel injection specialties.I have a front mounted aluminum radiator which I also went thru IFG to obtain. I probably paid more going thru them, but at the time I thought that was the best way.  I have fabricated from 1/8 inch ABS sheeting an air dam to route air into a shroud over the radiator.  In my headlight area I have also ducted air into the shroud for more cooling air.  The camarro headlights will be recessed back far enough to prevent any obstruction.  Right now I'm looking for some scratch resistant clear plastic to set in front of the headlights to route air into the ducts.  I still have to find ways to do the door windows. Ray sent me a drawing instead of a picture how to use fiero electric electric openers.  That was a disaster.  I need a new door window as I broke one, they cost $200.  I had to trim 1 inch off of one of the legs of the wing because of different lengths.  I made window frames for the rear windows and discovered the left window was an inch shorter.  None of the 4 air scoops are the same size, and the cavity for the amber lights in front were even different in size.  Nothing is a mirror image.  I'm trying to find a wiper arm and blade,
the ones for sale on the net are for 25th anniv and 5000S.  I dont know if they would work on our car, as I don't know if the glass is similar.  I don't want a wiper that wont stay on the glass surface, or wont clear rain while driving.  There's a lot to consider when building a car which you want to drive, and you want to be proud of.  Safety and legal also has to be considered.  In Missouri, our highway patrol is very strict where replicas, rebuilts, etc are concerned.  Well Dale that about covers it for now.  I think I will send some pictures to you to scan.  Thanks,      Bob
